Critical Incident Response

Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention

Critical Incident Response Training Course June 21, 22, 23, 2017.

LifeWorks, together with Critical Incident Management Australasia (the peak body for Crisis Management in Australia), present an engaging, interactive and practical training course offering HR and work teams the opportunity prepare to provide support to staff should they ever be faced with crisis, trauma or distress in the workplace.

Providing an understanding of the methodology, protocols and practices used by critical incident responders such as Victorian SES and LifeWorks to provide support following crises, this 3-day training course equips professionals to provide effective support via defusing and debriefing events.

This three-day course combines the following two courses:

Assisting Individuals in Crisis (AIC)

Group Crisis Intervention (GCI)

This interactive program will teach participants the fundamentals of and specific protocols for individual crisis intervention. Participants will learn practical techniques in administering emotional first-aid to those in a crisis situation. The course also examines psychological reactions to crisis and trauma and looks at particular protocols for individual crisis intervention, including SAFER-R. The program also includes practical strategies for the containment of individuals psychologically and behaviourally. The Resistance, Resiliency and Recovery continuum is also examined. This course will prepare participants to provide acute emergency mental health intervention to help large and small groups of people cope with their reactions after experiencing a traumatic event. The program presents the core elements of the comprehensive, integrated, systematic and multicomponent crisis management system known as Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). The Course prepares participants for intervening and assisting groups of people in the recovery process. Topics covered include the range of strategies for intervention with large and small groups.
